1957 Volkswagen Beetle
Run Day - Friday May 31, 2024
Wow! check out this 1957 VW Beetle with 65,034 original miles. This Beetle was manufactured March 8th, 1957 in West Germany and was delivered to the United States on March 11th. It remained with its second owner for 32 years and the third owner for 33 years. This car was lovingly restored around 1990, and was refinished in the factory-correct black exterior, and retains the original Oxblood red vinyl interior, original dash and interior paint; even the pleat stitchings on the seating are still intact! The original headliner is still extant as well. The chrome bumpers and other trim were professionally re-chromed back in the early 90s as well. Mechanically, the original engine was fully refreshed and runs terrific. The car drives great too, with the 4-speed manual transmission shifting with ease while not being sloppy in the least bit. The stampings in the metal under the front bonnet and rear deck lid are indicative of West German production. Accompanying the vehicle is an official “Birth certificate” from the corporate headquarters of Volkswagen in Wolfsburg, verifying the chassis number and engine number, A lovely handwritten letter from the original owner, Miss Bernadette Gallant, several vintage registrations from the late 70s into the mid-80s, the original owner's manual, etc. 1957 was the final year for the rear oval window, making this a prime example of an early beetle. Don't miss this little black Bug!
