1967 Chrysler Imperial Crown Convertible- A/C- Owned 36 Years! Show and Drive!
1967 Chrysler Imperial Crown Convertible- A/C- Owned 36 Years! Show and Drive!
Purchased in 1988 by the present owners, they were anxious to get started on the plan to bring her back to her original glory when new. It is finished in the original color of Cinnamon Gold Metallic with a Black Interior and has the Black “Leather Grain” Convertible Top. The meticulous restoration of this Imperial took five years, culminating in a debut at the 1993 WP Chrysler National Meet in Independence, Ohio, where it proudly earned the Best of Imperial Trophy. It has been invited to, and shown at numerous prestigious concours events. This Imperial has been lovingly maintained, featuring rebuilt mechanics, new upholstery, carpet, wood veneer, a fresh convertible top, and a gleaming coat of paint. Although many years have passed, very few miles were enjoyed on the road because of a number of other rare and drivable vehicles in their collection. Mileage of the odometer is 93,051, although likely there are less than 5,000 miles on the restoration. Today, it is still turn-key ready for memorable road trips with the family and to be proudly shown too.
This particular model is a standout with only 577 convertibles produced in 1967, priced at $6244.00 when new (about the cost of TWO base Plymouth GTX's!). It boasts a commanding presence with a wheelbase of 127" and a length of 224.7", slightly shorter than its predecessors, yet still exuding grandeur.
Under the hood, the 440 cubic inch V8 engine delivers 350 horsepower, paired seamlessly with a 727 Torqueflite Transmission, providing smooth and powerful performance on the road. Front disc brakes and power-assisted rear drums ensure confident stopping power. Noted defects include the power seat on the drivers side and the A/C was never used during their ownership.
Step back in time with this rare and exquisite 1967 Chrysler Imperial Crown Convertible, a true icon of American automotive luxury. Crafted under the design genius of Elwood Engle, renowned for his work on Lincoln Continentals and Thunderbirds, this Imperial showcases the transition from angular lines to refined elegance.
